Welcome to the 14th KOCSEA Technical Symposium!

It is my great honor to invite you to our annual symposium. The KOrean ComputerScientists and Engineers Association in America (KOCSEA), founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization of Korean and Korean American computer scientists and engineers in North America. The basic goal of KOCSEA is to “promote communication, information exchanges and cooperation among its members and to provide opportunities for them to make contributions to computer-related fields in the U.S. and Korea”

KOCSEA’s flagship event is the annual technical symposium. In the past 7 years we have successfully held it in various locations in west coast and east coast alternately. This year the location of the KOCSEA technical symposium is San Jose, CA.

I hope that this year’s symposium becomes one memorable event where many industrial researchers participate and collaborate with academic researchers. We have made an extra effort in inviting new participants from the San Jose region. I take a great joy in introducing KOCSEA to those new people and expanding our valuable network.

The one-and-a-half day workshop will consist of invited talks by outstanding researchers and professors in various fields in Computer Science. To absorb the advancements in industry, we have invited many guest speakers from industry.

Student participation is very important in cultivating our future. Following the tradition, we have solicited student posters and scholarship applications. We have chosen top three students to be awarded with scholarships and have invited them to the symposium. Two scholarships are awarded in memory of the late Prof. Moon Jung Chung and late Prof. Kane Kim, KOCSEA’s former presidents.

This event would have been impossible without our sponsors. First of all, we extend our deep appreciation to our co-organizer KUSCO for its continued support for this event. Several other organizations including KSEA and KOFST also generously extended a financial support to us. I deeply appreciate all of their support.

Once again, I cordially invite all of you to our technical symposium. Please feel free to bring your colleagues and students. On-site registrations are always welcome.
