Dear KOCSEA Friends,

On behalf of the Korean-American Scientists and Engineers Association (KSEA), I would like to congratulate to all KOCSEA members for hosting 14th KOCSEA Technical Symposium KSEA at Silicon Valley and thank you for making this event a continued success.

One of the thrusts of recent KSEA administrations has been to strengthening the strategic alliance between KSEA and its Associated Professional Societies (APSs) for mutual benefits and growth. KSEA is considering how to better accommodate its APSs’ interests for instance by changing its governance structure. As a former KOCSEA president, I am proud that KOCSEA has been the most faithful partner with KSEA. I thank you for the supports you offered toward KSEA for all these years.

With Korea government’s initiative of “creation economy” I believe the role of KOCSEA members becomes ever more important as the initiative emphasizes innovative harmonization of all industry sectors with IT, the vocation of KOCSEA members. No doubt that many future breakthroughs in science and technology will germinate from the boundaries of various technical disciplines and we must explore the hidden treasures at these boundaries. The harmonization calls for not only the effort of industry sector level but within each technical discipline. Within IT, a variety of technical disciplines exist, and I believe KOCSEA technical symposiums must encourage cross-disciplinary activities that can lead to innovative collaborative researches and developments.

It is already 14 years that KOCSEA started its first technical conference. I see the formats of the symposiums evolve over the years, incorporating the ideas of new generation of members, while firmly maintaining the goal of benefiting members by offering a space to share their experiences and to seek technical collaboration as well as personal friendship. I hope your experience with 14th Technical symposium is an exciting and enlightening one, whether it is learning opportunities, discovering new ideas, cultivating research and development collaborations, or appreciating rare networking opportunities to make new friends or renew bonds with old colleagues.

Finally, I would like to give my heartfelt thanks to conference chair Dr. Minkyong Kim, program chair Dr. Jeongkyu Lee, local chair Dr. Han Hee Song, and all the organizing committee members and advisors for their precious time and efforts.
